Implementation of the "Training and Attraction of Health Professionals in Alytus District Municipality" Project Begins
The administration of Alytus District Municipality, together with partners: the Public Institution Alytus District Municipality Primary Health Care Center and the Public Institution Alytus County S. Kudirka Hospital, begins the implementation of the project "Training and Attraction of Health Professionals in Alytus District Municipality" No. 09-027-P-0004.
Attracting young professionals to the Alytus District Municipality region is particularly challenging, and the shortage of professionals leads to longer healthcare service delivery times, insufficient accessibility of services, and the provision of services that do not meet patient needs and are inefficient. Assessing the current and projected human resources of the institutions, it is clear that the problem of the shortage of healthcare professionals will only worsen. The average age of professionals working in the institutions is well over 50 years, so older professionals may leave the labor market at any time. With the increase in the number of patients served, the need for nursing assistants has significantly increased. Currently, the nursing assistant workforce is aging, so it is necessary to attract new professionals by applying additional incentives. To make healthcare professional positions attractive and motivating to work in Alytus District, it is necessary to ensure effective and motivating conditions.
Additionally, the Public Institution Alytus District Municipality Primary Health Care Center and the Public Institution Alytus County S. Kudirka Hospital face a shortage of family doctors, advanced practice nurses, and general practice nurses. To improve the situation, it is necessary to take comprehensive measures, including increasing staff, increasing funding, improving infrastructure, raising the qualifications of healthcare professionals, and providing career opportunities.
The aim of the project is to prepare and attract highly qualified healthcare professionals to Alytus District Municipality.
The project aims to prepare and attract the missing highly qualified healthcare professionals, increasing their number in Alytus District. The project activities will help reduce the shortage of healthcare professionals in the region and improve the accessibility of healthcare services for local residents.
The total value of the project: 376,500.90 Eur is funded by European Union funds.
The project activities will be completed by 2029-08-31.
