Today, the draft cooperation agreement, which will open the way for the establishment of the Alytus District Municipality Health Center, was unanimously approved by the Mayor of Alytus District Rasa Vitkauskienė and the heads of healthcare institutions.

The health center is being established through cooperation agreements between healthcare institutions operating in the Alytus district and the neighboring municipality – the Alytus District Municipality Primary Health Care Center, UAB "Disolis", Alytus District Municipality Public Health Bureau, Alytus County S. Kudirka Hospital, and Alytus Polyclinic. The establishment of the health center will not involve any structural changes, and no new legal entity will be created.

As indicated by the project initiator, the Ministry of Health, the health center is a new form of healthcare service organization, with the main goal being to ensure accessible and quality healthcare services and continuity of care for patients through collaboration between healthcare institutions in the municipality and the neighboring municipality, improving the health indicators of the municipality's residents.

"Higher quality, quicker access to medical services for our district’s people. The shorter the path to the doctor," said Mayor Rasa Vitkauskienė, outlining the main goal for the health center being established.

It is expected that the establishment of the health center will allow for comprehensive patient care.

At the meeting, Giedrė Ilgūnaitė, the director of the Alytus District Municipality Primary Health Care Center, Ramunė Gaisrienė, the director of UAB "Disolis", Svajūnas Žukauskas, the director of Alytus County S. Kudirka Hospital, Marius Jasaitis, the director of Alytus Polyclinic, and Dovilė Ramanauskė, the public health specialist of the Alytus District Municipality Public Health Bureau, discussed the terms of the cooperation agreement and unanimously approved the draft cooperation agreement.

During the meeting, representatives of healthcare institutions clearly expressed their consent to participate in the activities of the Alytus District Municipality Health Center and appointed the coordinating institution for the activities of the Alytus District Municipality Health Center – the Alytus District Municipality Primary Health Care Center.
